2Jackson , NJ – Morning commuters got an unexpected sight when a loose cow was spotted trotting along Toms River Road, prompting Jackson police to launch an unusual rescue operation — on quad vehicles.

Officers were dispatched after reports came in of the bovine on the move through the rural stretch of roadway. Using department ATVs, police carefully herded the animal away from traffic and back to safety.

The Jackson Police Department shared the encounter on social media, reminding residents that rural patrol duties can bring unpredictable moments. “Thank God we have quads!” the department posted alongside photos of the animal’s capture.
