SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga Race Course is bringing short legged furry friends to the track for a special competition. The inaugural Corgi Cup will take place on Sunday at the main track after the third and fifth thoroughbred races that afternoon.

There will be four heats with 12 corgis each heat sprinting 40 years to the finish line. The three top finishers from each heat advance to the championship happening after the seventh race just before 5 p.m.

Lucky Puppy Rescue from Argyle will be at the track on Sunday with dogs available for adoption. Track-goers will have the opportunity to meet pups and begin the adoption process if they so please.
