A former library based in Clydebank is set to be turned into a sit-down cafe after it is sold by a West Dunbartonshire Council committee.

Members of the Infrastructure Regeneration and Economic Development (IRED) committee are scheduled to meet next Wednesday to approve the sale of the former Parkhill Library on Hawthorn Street to Rose Donaghey for £151,000.

The property which is owned by the local authority has been declared surplus to operational requirements and no longer serves as a purpose for the council’s needs.

It was marked for sale between May and June this year with a closing date for offers set at July 1.

Eight bids offering to purchase were received which ranged in price from £7400 to £151,000 for a variety of potential uses.
