ATLANTA -- Detroit Lions offensive tackle Giovanni Manu was always going to get a ton of snaps and work throughout training camp and the preseason.

But in recent days, the big developmental offensive lineman has been taking first-team reps at left tackle. Manu has gotten to go against Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport, and seems like the odds-on favorite to start Friday night’s preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Lions offensive tackles Dan Skipper (ankle) and Jamarco Jones (ankle) seem unlikely to play after not practicing Wednesday. And starting left tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder) continues to work his way back from offseason surgery.

That’s a nice opportunity for Manu to clean some things up and flash more of his development.
