The Great Lakes water levels are generally on the decline at the current time. Most of the lakes are expected to have below normal water levels over the next six months.
The typical water level cycle for the Great Lakes is a rise to the seasonal high water mark in July or August. After the high water mark, the Great Lakes typically have falling water levels to around March of the next year. In March the water levels start to rise to the late summer high.
Two Great Lakes have already reached their seasonal high and are starting to fall. The other Great Lakes should peak in the next month and then start to fall.
The big picture of Great Lakes water levels is a declining water amount. All of the Great Lakes except Lake Erie are running below long-term averages and expected to continue belo
