GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — 35 years ago, then-President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It is the country’s strongest measure to protect the civil rights of those with disabilities. It covers things many Americans might take for granted. “Every one of our programs is really designed to help people overcome and live their very best lives,” said Bob Van Kaenel, president and CEO of Hope Network.
