State pensioners on the Basic rate could be set to receive an extra £352 from the Department for Work and Pensions thanks to the Triple Lock mechanism.

The triple lock guarantees the rise will correspond with either the inflation rate, average earnings or 2.5 per cent – whichever proves to be the highest.

At present, inflation is predicted to reach four per cent.

This means Basic state pensioners who currently receive £169.50 weekly will gain just under £7 extra per week - amounting to £352 annually from the Labour Party government and DWP come April, provided the figures remain unchanged, reports the Mirror .
