BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — One person is dead following an I-77 crash in Richland County that happened on Thursday night.

Corporal David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 8:40 p.m. when a 1999 Ford F-250 truck hit a 2021 Jeep Gladiator truck as both were heading south on the interstate near Blythewood.

Jones said the Ford truck was attempting to change lanes when it hit the Jeep. After the crash, the Jeep went into the median and overturned, but the driver wasn't injured. However, the driver of the Ford truck was taken to an area hospital and later died.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash, Jones said.
