KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas Governor Laura Kelly on Friday ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Wyandotte County Deputy Elijah Ming, who was killed in the line of duty.
In accordance with Executive Order #20-30, Gov. Kelly said this applies to all state buildings, grounds and facilities from sunup to sundown on Aug. 11.
"The death of a law enforcement officer is always a tragedy, and Deputy Ming was taken far too soon," Gov. Kelly said.
"He made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his community, and he will not be forgotten. My sincere condolences go out to Deputy Ming’s loved ones during this difficult time."
Ming was killed in the line of duty on July 26 after a woman asked officers to accompany her as she moved out of her home near South 30th Street and Shawnee Drive.
