WEXFORD COUNTY — A 23-year-old Mesick man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a minor, according to the Michigan State Police.

Per an Aug. 8 new release, troopers from the MSP Cadillac Post launched an investigation on June 17 after receiving a complaint of criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under the age of 14.

Investigators believe the suspect, Joshua Johnson, used social media platforms to contact victims, build relationships and then coerce them into sexual acts.

An arrest warrant was issued following the investigation, and Johnson was taken into custody without incident on July 21 by the Seventh District Fugitive Team. He was lodged in the Wexford County Jail.
