Thirteen DMV locations in the Chicago area will soon open for walk-in hours on Saturdays -- and you'll be able to do more than just get a Real ID.
The Illinois Secretary of State's office announced Thursday it will start offering expanded walk-in hours on Saturdays in numerous suburbs "to help reduce weekday wait times and increase the number of residents the DMV can serve in August."
Beginning Aug. 9, 13 locations will serve walk-in customers from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
But while Illinois DMVs have changed services on Saturdays recently ahead of the Real ID deadline in May, these new hours will offer a wider range of services.
Walk-in customers will be able to renew their driver’s licenses, obtain vehicle registrations, acquire a REAL ID and more.
