The New York Yankees came into the season with Anthony Volpe as the everyday shortstop and have stuck by him through a terrible year.
Volpe's offense has not been great since he has been in the big leagues. He was just a .228 hitter coming into the season, but the team at least expected him to be a steady force defensively, as he won a Gold Glove Award in his rookie season. Instead, he entered Friday leading baseball in errors.
Despite his poor play in the field and continued struggles at the plate, Aaron Boone keeps him in the lineup. FanSided's Lucas Babits-Feinerman predicts the Yankees will move on from him after he has played his way off the team.
"There are 18 qualified shortstops with a higher OPS than Volpe, and he leads the league in errors," wrote Babits-Feinerman. "I know t
