(FOX40.COM) -- Cal Fire's Amador-El Dorado Unit is conducting a prescribed burn at Baer Ranch today. Video above: Firefighters battled a 145 acre fire in Lincoln

According to Cal Fire, the fire is expected to last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in El Dorado County off Marshall Road in Green Valley.

Officials stated that the goal is to burn 80 acres of oak woodland and grass within the VMP to enhance fire protection for the community and continue reducing fuels in the fuel break.

Residents in Coloma/Lotus, Garden Valley, Georgetown, Greenwood, and Cool may see smoke.

Cal Fire evaluates prescribed burns hourly and will be assisted by the Garden Valley Fire Protection District and the Georgetown Fire Protection District.
