The United Way of Greater Toledo kicked off its 2025 campaign Friday morning at the Wayman D. Palmer YMCA. Called the “Nourished to Flourish” campaign, it launched with a lively community event focused on giving back—and getting kids ready for school both mentally and physically through food.
The nonprofit brought together 100 volunteers throughout the community. It was local leaders and corporate partners working to assemble 2,000 back-to-school snack packs. Each pack included a mix of healthy snacks, a local resource guide, and a recipe-themed coloring book designed for kids, with activities centered around th bag's food items. According to United Way's CEO and President Wendy Pestrue said the event was more than just packing snacks.
"This is a celebration of community," Pestrue said
