MIDDLEFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Middlefield Fair, established in 1856, known as the cattle show, begins Friday.

Within the 169 years, the fair has remained relatively the same with the traditions each year. The fair kicks off Friday at 4 p.m. and runs through Sunday. Admission is $10, and children under 12 are free. The fair includes live music, agricultural exhibits, truck pulls, animal competitions, food booths, and more.

A state grant was awarded to the Middlefield Fair for $23,995.01 to support infrastructure repairs, such as rehabilitating existing buildings and building new construction. The fair will hold a ribbon-cutting on Friday for the new museum and art barn at 4:30 p.m.
