TWIN FALLS — Martha “Marty” Mead is not one to toot her own horn. But she can talk just about anyone into tooting theirs.

Marty’s name is synonymous with everything musical in the Magic Valley, musical director Lori Henson said Thursday. “She’s the standard to which everything is measured.”

By planting one tiny seed many years ago, Marty cultivated the arts in a then-podunk town, Henson said. The arts didn’t just survive here, they flourished under Marty’s watch.
