(KRON) -- A man who was struck by multiple vehicles on an Antioch highway on Wednesday was pronounced deceased at the scene, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP officers responded at 7:37 p.m. to eastbound Highway 4, west of Somerville Road, on the report of a pedestrian who had been hit by two vehicles. First responders found the man with fatal injuries.
A preliminary investigation showed that the man entered the eastbound lanes from the right shoulder before crossing into the far left lane, where he was struck by an oncoming Ford van, CHP said. A Subaru Forester following directly behind the Ford also struck the man after he fell onto the lane.
