Community complaints about frequent drug activity in a Niagara Falls neighbourhood led to a boost in police patrols and — this week — an arrest.
On Thursday, Niagara Regional Police were in the area of Main and Ferry streets, where area residents had been reporting criminal activity.
At 11:30 a.m., officers saw three people behind a commercial building in the parking lot of a retirement home engaging in what looked like drug trafficking and consumption, a news release said.
Police arrested a 21-year-old Niagara Falls man and charged him with possessing fentanyl for trafficking and possessing proceeds of crime.
Officers seized 38.6 grams of suspected fentanyl worth $8,360, a cellphone, a digital weighing scale and $710 in cash.
