SHARON, N.D. — Cleanup was underway on Friday, Aug. 7, after a pre-dawn storm knocked over grain bins and trees and caused other damage in Steele County, North Dakota.

A release from the Steele County Sheriff's Office outlined the damage, with Sheriff Wayne Beckman saying it was extensive.

Sharon, a community of fewer than 100 approximately 63 miles southwest of Grand Forks, received the bulk of the damage, Beckman said. It included toppled grain bins and damaged roofs, he said.

"It's a mess, especially Sharon," Beckman said in the release sent to the media. "Aside from the structural damage and downed trees, we've got downed power lines in town."

Sharon was without power Friday morning, with no estimate on when electricity would be restored.
