COLUMBUS, Ind. — A serious violent sex offender was arrested after he was allegedly seen at an elementary school in Columbus.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of suspicious activity on an unrelated incident, according to the Columbus Police Department. While looking into the tip, investigators gathered information that Philip Vennie, 43, was living at a home that is within 1000 feet of a neighborhood school.
On Tuesday officers reportedly saw Vennie on the school's property. Vennie was arrested on a preliminary charge of Unlawful Entry by a Serious Sex Offender, a Level 6 Felony, for being on school property.
Vennie was placed in the Bartholomew County Jail.
