EVANS COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) -- Evans County Fire and Rescue responders were called to a motor vehicle collision Thursday. The car had gone into a small body of water.

Upon arrival, they found an adult and 3-year-old child out of the vehicle.

The vehicle's crash alert system had gone off but due to the location and height of the embankment where the crash happened, the car could not be seen. The adult's phone had fallen into the water when they were trying to get the child out of the car seat. A passerby saw the two and called responders.

In a social media post about the crash, the Evans County Fire and Rescue shared information about how window breakers work and advice on survival when a vehicle goes into the water.
