After bringing record-breaking temperatures to San Diego County, a heat wave continues Friday. But some relief was expected just in time for the weekend.
Thursday was expected to be the hottest day of the warm-up with temperatures ranging from around 80 near the coast to the upper 90s to low 100s for the inland valleys. Temperatures in the deserts spiked to the mid- to high-100s, the National Weather Service said.
NBC 7's Greg Bledsoe confirmed that it was the hottest day of the year to date, with records set for daytime highs in three locations:
Borrego: 116 (Old Record 114 in 2001)
Campo: 106 (Old record 105 in 2018)
Ramona: 104 (Old Record 101 in 2018)
Another record was also set at Lake Cuyamaca for the warmest overnight low: 71 degrees.
