WEST BROOKLYN — A CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE DEAD TREES WITHIN CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 33 is underway . City Councilmember Lincoln Restler, D-33, announced through the Community District 2 newsletter that residents and constituents are being encouraged to report dead trees in their neighborhoods from Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn to Greenpoint. The trees can be reported to the Department of Parks and Recreation. The form asks residents to identify the nearest cross-streets to the affected trees. The New York City Parks Dept. is required to inspect all tree beds before planting a new street tree to ensure there are no overhead or underground infrastructure, utility or egress conflicts.

The goal is to fill every potential tree bed with a new street tree by 2027.
