BENTON, Maine — A 20-year-old woman is in custody after allegedly shooting a man in the neck early Friday morning during what authorities described as a drug and alcohol fueled altercation.
Deputies from the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at 3:03 a.m. on August 8 at 246 Unity Road in Benton, where a 19-year-old male had reportedly been shot, the sheriff's office said in a press release. The caller told dispatchers the shooter was still on the scene.
Deputy Chad Webster and a Fairfield police officer arrived to find 20-year-old Hailie A. Hotham at the residence. She was taken into custody without incident, and a firearm—a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol—was secured, officials said.
