ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The 15-year-old accused of shooting a 17-year-old on July 4 in Albany is now facing an upgraded charge. The teen was originally charged with second-degree attempted murder, but now they are being charged with second-degree murder.
The shooting, the second of three such incidents that occurred on July 4 in Albany, took place just after 10 p.m. on Madison Avenue near Swan Street. Police stated that two minors having a dispute in the area allegedly exchanged weapon fire, with one using a handgun and the other using a flare gun.
Four people in the vicinity were struck by bullets from the handgun, critically injuring the teen who died on July 17, as well as injuring a 62-year-old, a 24-year-old, and another 17-year-old. Detectives determined that the projectile from t
