APPLING COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — The Appling County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) arrested a man Thursday afternoon after he fled the scene of a shooting hours before.

Deputies were dispatched around 11:20 a.m. Thursday to reports of a shooting at Northside Park. Upon arrival, they discovered a man had been shot by 23-year-old Montavious LaJames Wilborn.

Wilborn was later located and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The victim was flown to Savannah for medical treatment.

The ACSO said the investigation remains ongoing with additional charges pending.
