BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — In anticipation of high school sports beginning, the Burton Fire Department (BFD) and Battery Creek High School Football coaches ran an emergency medical drill to prepare.
Coaches were tasked with providing lifesaving care for eight minutes until emergency services arrived, simulating potential real-life scenarios.
The drill was successful, and coaches were able to provide a transition of care without a pause in compressions, which could be crucial in a real emergency.
Battery Creek begins its football season Aug. 22 against Hilton Head Christian Academy, and along with game preparations, coaches are now better prepared for medical emergencies.
