WASHINGTON - The opioid crisis continues to be a serious issue across Washington, with a new report from the state health department revealing over 1,400 suspected overdoses in July alone.
Eastern Washington recorded 271 cases, making it the second-hardest hit area after Central Washington. Statewide, emergency medical services responded to more than 1,800 suspected overdose cases.
In these cases, over 550 patients showed positive responses to Narcan, a medication used to counteract the effects of opioid overdoses. This data underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the state.
State health officials emphasized that while data may vary, the opioid crisis is far from over. They continue to monitor the situation closely and work on strategies to address this pressing issue.
