GATES COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Gates County man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing a woman and her unborn child.

A jury yesterday found Wilson Williams guilty of second-degree murder for the death of Shadae Roscoe and guilty of first degree murder for the killing of her unborn child.

Prosecutors say the two were living together when, on May 3, 2022, home surveillance showed Williams hitting and kicking Roscoe, and then shooting her in the back of the head “as she lay defenseless on the ground.”

The judge sentenced Williams to the mandatory life without parole for the unborn child death, and a minimum of 20 years for the mother’s death.
