TOLEDO, Ohio — The city of Toledo has closed Rev. H.V. Savage Park's splash pad for the remainder of the season, citing mechanical issues.

This comes after the city planned the construction of a new splash pad to replace the Savage Park splash pad, which was closed last summer , as record-breaking heat swamped Northwest Ohio. A spokesperson for the city stated the splash pad was closed in 2024 due to non-compliance with safety laws. It eventually reopened last July after the city fixed multiple safety issues, including the maximum velocity of water coming out of the water fixtures.

The city previously received a $1.1 million federal grant to enhance public access to high-quality outdoor recreation and natural spaces in the Junction neighborhood and help fund half of the new splash pad
