LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Metro leaders are still at odds over whether a Louisville police officer involved in a deadly shooting on Frankfort Avenue back in 2023 followed proper protocol. The inspector general says this situation highlights the need for an independent monitor.
“We issue a finding, the chief will respond or not, and nothing else happens to it,” Inspector General Ed Harness said.
Harness believes that if there were an independent monitor overseeing LMPD reports, many of the issues his office experiences would not be happening.
He shared his concerns at Friday’s Bishop’s table.
“I am still waiting for other cases that didn’t get media attention for the chief response that we believe to be police misconduct, and it needs to be investigated,” Harness said.
