DONNA — Early childhood education at the school district here continues to strengthen with the opening of the B.G Guzman Head Start Academy, a centralized location for the district’s Head Start program and wraparound services such as health screenings, mental health care and social services for students and families.

The academy is in partnership with the Hidalgo County Head Start Program (HCHSP).

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Friday morning with officials from the district, HCHSP and other county services present.

Donna ISD Superintendent Angela Dominguez said she teared up several times during the ceremony due to the legacy this will have in the community and the impact it will have on children’s lives and families.
