Meteorologists with AccuWeather are monitoring areas in the Atlantic that could develop tropical storms in the near future.

Tropical Cyclone Dexter has drifted further out to sea and is expected to impact shipping and cruise routes in the Atlantic Ocean. While this system will not directly impact the U.S., AccuWeather meteorologists note that a strengthening high pressure over the Northeast combined with a tropical rainstorm over the coast of the Southeast could produce dangerous rip currents along East Coast shorelines through the end of the week.

As explained by AccuWeather meteorologists, tropical rainstorms are tropical systems that can produce significant rain and wind, but have yet to be classified as a tropical storm.
