SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) - The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released an update on the number of crashes they've seen during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
The numbers were compiled from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, to 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, according to a press release from the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Within that time frame, there have been a reported 86 crashes, with four of those being fatal, a higher number than last year's three.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol described the recent crashes in their press release.
Fatal Crashes:
12:50 a.m. on Sunday, Sturgis Police attempted to stop a 2021 Harley Davidson motorcycle for exhibition driving near the Iron Horse Saloon. The motorcycle fled, engaging police in a pursuit. The motorcycle left the lane of travel at high speeds
