Syracuse native Claire Solis is the new artistic director of Central New York Ballet.
Solis brings professional experience from elite ballet institutions and national tours to the role. She made her Broadway debut in 2017 in the revival of “CATS,” and in 2018 was cast as an original company member of the first U.S. national tour of “Anastasia.”
She’s also two-time bronze medalist at the World Ballet Competition and has appeared on “America’s Got Talent” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”
The Central New York Ballet began in 2023 following a split with Syracuse City Ballet , after six of its eight professional dancers walked off the job demanding changes in working conditions and artistic direction. Solis was among the six. They were later fired by Syracuse City Ballet .
In 2024, Sy
