LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Governor Gretchen Whitmer will sign an executive order on Friday, tasking the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) with supporting access to affordable health insurance.
The directive specifically asks DIFS to raise awareness and educate Michiganders on what they need to do to keep or obtain health insurance during the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Open Enrollment period.
It also addresses actions by Republicans in Washington, D.C., that have made it more difficult for people to get and maintain health insurance.
Notably, Republicans are ending the enhanced ACA benefits, which is expected to raise health care costs by $700 per individual, or roughly $2,400 for a family of four.
This directive aims to increase awareness about these changes and ensure
