COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Dillingham Street Bridge in downtown Columbus has been temporarily closed due to concerning items found in the Chattahoochee River down below, Columbus Police confirmed to WRBL News 3.
The Columbus Police Department confirmed a diver in the Chattahoochee River discovered potential explosive devices and brought them to the surface near the bridge. Investigators are examining the items that were found in the river.
Columbus Police and the bomb squad have been called to the scene. Columbus Fire and EMS is on standby for potential medical support.
The Dillingham Street bridge, a portion of Bay Avenue and portions of the Riverwalk are currently blocked off.
