BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Parking prices at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will be increasing for the Fall 2025 semester. However, the silver lining is that students and those who park on campus will no longer need to purchase a physical permit because the university is switching to virtual permits.

"Parking Services is entirely self-funded and does not receive support from state funds or student tuition," the university wrote to students. "To maintain and improve the quality and safety of campus parking and transportation services, such as parking lot and technology improvements, a modest permit rate adjustment was necessary."

Parking permits for the 2025-2026 academic year will be available starting August 1, 2025. Below are the rates.

Student permits: Zone 1: $6
