FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Mercy, in partnership with the Cherokee Nation, has begun construction on a 40,000-square-foot expansion of its oncology services in Fort Smith.

The new center will consolidate Mercy Fort Smith’s existing oncology services, relocate radiation therapy and expand infusion capacity, according to a news release.

The project’s estimated cost is $41 million, with potential additional phases increasing the total to $55 million.
