Arkansas State Police have released a sketch of a man wanted in connection with the murder of a married couple who were killed while hiking at Devil's Den State Park. The incident occurred on Saturday, where Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were found dead. Their two daughters, aged 7 and 9, were discovered unharmed nearby.
The couple's family stated that they died while "protecting their little girls" from the alleged attacker, who fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities are searching for a white male with a medium build, last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt with rolled-up sleeves, dark pants, a dark hat, sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. He was reportedly carrying a black backpack.
The sketch, released on Monday night, depicts a man wearing a baseball cap. Police believe the suspect may have sustained an injury during the attack. The couple's bodies were found on a trail in a remote area of the park, which is known for its rugged terrain and lack of cellphone service.
Investigators are asking anyone who visited the park on Saturday to review their photos and videos for any images of the suspect. They also urge local residents to check their security and game camera footage. Authorities have warned against sharing any evidence on social media, as it could jeopardize the investigation.
The suspect was seen driving a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with a license plate covered by tape. He may have traveled on State Highway 170 or State Highway 220 near the park.
Shea Lewis, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, stated that there will be an increased police presence in state parks following the incident. "We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Devil's Den State Park. Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time," Lewis said.
The Brinks had recently moved to Prairie Grove, Arkansas, from another state. Their family has requested privacy as they grieve and navigate this tragedy. They emphasized that Clinton and Cristen died as heroes, protecting their daughters, and they deserve justice.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Arkansas State Police.
