A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the double homicide of a couple at Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas. James Andrew McGann, of Springdale, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with two counts of capital murder. The victims, Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were found dead on a hiking trail on Saturday while out with their two daughters, ages 7 and 9. The children were unharmed and are now in the care of family members.

Authorities reported that the Brinks were attacked while hiking, and police have not disclosed the details of how they were killed. The couple had recently relocated to Prairie Grove from South Dakota. Clinton Brink was set to begin a new job as a milk delivery driver, while Cristen Brink was a licensed nurse.

Following the attack, police released a composite sketch of a suspect and sought public assistance in identifying him. Witnesses reported seeing a black four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with a license plate obscured by tape leaving the area. The FBI is assisting Arkansas State Police in the investigation, which has garnered significant public interest and tips from across the country.

Col. Mike Hagar, director of the Arkansas State Police, praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement in apprehending McGann. "Because of their hard work and investigative skill, we were able to take a monster off the streets and bring relief to those two precious girls and the rest of our citizens," he said.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to pursue justice for violent crimes. "If you commit a violent, senseless act here in our state, our law enforcement will hunt you down and bring you to justice," she stated during a news conference.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet revealed a motive for the killings. All trails at Devil's Den State Park are currently closed as authorities continue their work. The park, known for its scenic hiking trails and rock formations, is located about 140 miles northwest of Little Rock.
