Andrea Nelson, manager of recreation for Compass Sports with the Montage Deer Valley, said she’s always been a night sky enthusiast.
“I got into it just because I go camping a lot, and I wanted to know what I was looking at when I was sleeping under the stars,” she said. “So I bought a couple star guides and just started doing my own research.”
She started a personal tradition of watching the Perseid meteor shower, which happens every year in August, and later learned about star parties hosted by the Utah Valley Astronomy Club.
“Those are really cool events where local enthusiasts bring their huge telescopes to a parking lot, and they just let people take a peek. They’ll point it at different celestial bodies in the sky, look at nebulas and galaxies and a whole bunch of really cool thin
