AUSTIN, Texas — Texas lawmakers Friday heard testimony and pleas for the action from people who experienced the tragic floods in Kerr County on July 4.

The Senate Select Committeee on Disaster Preparedness & Flooding met to discuss four proposed actions in response to the floods that ravaged the City of Kerrville and several surrounding towns.

The Guadalupe River rose more than 30 feet in 45 minutes the morning of the Fourth. More than 100 people died, including dozens of children at Camp Mystic, and questions remain about how the community was alerted to the danger that morning.
