IDAHO, USA — A federal judge denied a request on Thursday by a high school student group to block enforcement of Idaho's law requiring students to use restrooms corresponding to their biological sex.

Chief U.S. District Judge David C. Nye rejected the Boise High School Sexuality and Gender Alliance's (SAGA) motion for a preliminary injunction against Idaho Senate Bill 1100 . The student group had sought relief limited to restrooms at their school.

The decision comes just days before Boise High School's fall classes begin Aug. 12.

Judge Nye ruled the student group failed to demonstrate a likelihood of success on their equal protection and Title IX claims. He found that Idaho's law is substantially related to the state's legitimate interest in protecting student privacy.
