POCAHONTAS COUNTY, Iowa -- One person was killed in a head-on crash in Pocahontas County on Thursday.

Just after noon, emergency crews responded to a crash on Highway 4 near the intersection of 600th Street north of Pomeroy. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, a Subaru Impreza was traveling northbound on the highway when, for an unknown reason, it crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a southbound Ford Explorer.

The driver of the Subaru, identified as 31-year-old Darwin Benjamin Rosales Castillo from Westminster, Colorado, died from his injuries at the scene. According to the ISP, Castillo wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
