Newnan’s late rally wasn’t enough Thursday, as the Cougars dropped a 10-9 decision to Whitewater in a non-region game.

Trailing 10-3 in the seventh inning, Newnan mounted a furious rally, scoring six runs to pull within one before Whitewater held on.

Aubree Webb led the charge with a perfect 4-for-4 night, driving in four runs and hitting a double. Amelie Leyton reached base in all four plate appearances, adding two RBIs and a run, while Evie Mathis also drove in two runs.

In the circle, Claira-Anne “CA” Moss struck out four over four innings before handing the ball to Piper Willey in relief.

The loss was Newnan’s fifth straight, dating back to last season and a repeat of last year’s result against the Wildcats.
