Police have been given special powers in Tamworth ahead of a football match this weekend.

A special order has been granted to enable officers to disperse groups of people in the town centre ahead of Tamworth FC's home game against Scunthorpe United tomorrow, August 9.

It was granted in response to community concerns about anti-social behaviour in the town.

The dispersal order, granted under section 35 of the Anti-social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, is aimed at 'preventing alarm, distress, crime and disorder'.
