A previously convicted sex offender has been sentenced to 50 years in prison in the killing of a nurse who visited him at a halfway house in Willimantic in October 2023 to administer him medication.

Michael Reese, 40, struck a plea deal on Friday in Danielson Superior Court, pleading guilty to murder in the killing of 63-year-old Joyce Grayson, according to the clerk’s office. He was sentenced following the plea to five decades in prison without the possibility of early release or parole, the office said.

According to court records, Reese had also been charged with murder in the commission of a felony and attempt to commit first-degree sexual assault.
