An employee at a Wortley Village grocery store who died in a fatal attack is being remembered as a kind, private man who loved long walks, reading and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays.

Todd Armstrong, 57, died Sunday after being stabbed near the intersection of Princess Avenue and Colborne Street, just east of the city’s downtown core.

Police said they were called to the intersection following an “altercation” between two men. They said the two men involved in the deadly violence didn’t know each other – a detail police acknowledge is especially “concerning.”

Khamis Toto, 30, is charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 11. Court records indicate he has no outstanding charges.
