The Oxbow Bridge in Arizona was destroyed after a brushfire on Aug. 1, cutting off a key route connecting the state to California.
The bridge in La Paz County, bordering both Imperial and Riverside counties, was set ablaze by the Oxbow 2 Fire, the Arizona Republic previously reported. The bridge connects Levee Road to the west side of the Colorado River.
The five-acre fire burned through near the Oxbow Recreation and Wildlife Area. The wooden structure collapsed into the river within two hours of catching fire, the Arizona Republic reported.
“Boaters are urged to avoid the area and exercise extreme caution due to floating debris and unmarked hazards downstream,” the Arizona Bureau of Land Management said.
